When You're Triggered: How to Regulate & Speak from Truth

When You're Triggered: How to Regulate & Speak from Truth

Online event
Sunday, April 12  •  7 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
Overview

Come with a triggering text, email, conversation, or memory, and leave with a calm body and a response you actually feel good about.

Have you ever received a text that instantly sent you over the edge?

You show it to a friend and they say, “I think you’re overreacting.”

But to you, you’re not overreacting.
You genuinely don’t understand why you’re this upset - you just are.

And now you’re stuck.

Do you go silent?
Do you fire back?
Do you over-explain?
Do you shut down completely?

Being triggered can feel confusing, frustrating, and deeply painful. You're not being too sensitive, you are experiencing a truama response.

In this experiential somatic workshop, we’re going to slow it down.

Instead of judging your reaction, we’ll explore it.
Instead of suppressing it, we’ll regulate it.
Instead of reacting from survival, we’ll practice responding from truth.

You’ll bring:

  • A triggering text or email
  • A recent conversation
  • Or a memory that still carries emotional charge

Together, we’ll gently move through the process of understanding what happened, in your body, not just your mind.

What we’ll explore together:

  • Why certain moments hit so deeply
  • How nervous system activation hijacks clarity
  • Where the trigger lives in the body (sensations, intensity, emotion)
  • The inner child or younger part that may need attention
  • The survival parts that may show up
  • How to move from reaction → regulation → aligned response

We’ll work step-by-step through the activation so that by the end of our time together, you’ll have:

  • A calmer nervous system
  • More clarity about why it hurt
  • Reduced emotional intensity
  • And a response that feels steady and self-respecting

This is not about crafting the “perfect” message.

It’s about staying connected to yourself while you respond.

This space is for you if:

  • You spiral after difficult conversations
  • You’re told you’re “too sensitive” but it's actually a trauma response
  • You replay arguments wishing you had handled them differently
  • You bounce between over-accommodating and over-reacting
  • You want a body-based approach to working with triggers

What to expect:

  • A calm, structured container
  • Nervous-system education woven with somatic awareness
  • Guided regulation practices
  • Optional journaling and reflection
  • Clear pacing and consent throughout
  • A supportive, non-judgmental environment

This is a somatic, trauma-informed space. You are always in control of how much you participate. Sharing is optional. Camera on or off, your choice.
